Former ice hockey player Phil competed in both the NHL and IHL. He played for the Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

After the 1995–96 season, the two-time Stanley Cup champion left the NHL. Later, he joined the Chicago Wolves of the IHL. After the 1999–2000 season, he retired from playing after three seasons in Germany.

Bourque currently works for the Pittsburgh Penguins as a colour commentator and radio analyst. He interviews hockey players, coaches, and personalities on the pregame show “Two Minutes with the Ol’ Two-Niner.”
