A professional boxer from Houston, Texas named Maurenzo Smith, is purportedly shot and killed by his claimed girlfriend’s ex-husband.
On Wednesday morning, a heavyweight journeyman was shot multiple times and killed in a Texas restaurant.
The following week, Smith, 44, was due to square off in Colombia, the venue of seven of his previous eight fights.
Smith, who used the alias T. Diddy, had won eight previous fights. In his most well-known battles, Smith faced noteworthy heavyweights, including Chris Arreola, Adam Kownacki, Shannon Briggs, Andy Ruiz, and Charles Martin.
Smith was never able to defeat one of those more well-known competitors, but in 2013, he managed to draw with Vinny Maddalone, the heavyweight favourite in New York, by an eight-round majority.

Obituary: Maurenzo Smith Death
The boxer who won his first heavyweight boxing championship on Showtime reportedly died Wednesday morning in a restaurant in Texas after being shot.
When they were at Houston’s Crab Station Oyster Bar, the heavyweight boxer’s 28-year-old female acquaintance was there to assist her in finalizing the terms of her divorce from her 61-year-old spouse.
Before the 61-year-old man left and came back with a gun to kill Smith multiple times, the two talked. The suspect is currently kept alive by a machine.
Lou DiBella, a Hall of Fame promoter, called Smith’s death “another unnecessary shooting.” On a few occasions, Maurenzo competed for me, including perhaps the best match of his career against Vinny Maddalone.
Maurenzo Smith Girlfriend
Despite her husband, Maurenzo Smith and his girlfriend were in an open relationship. She was already living apart from her husband, who was estranged.
According to reports, her 61-year-old husband did not approve of the couple’s relationship. And he most definitely did not consider approving the divorce.
The heavyweight boxer’s 28-year-old female companion was in Houston at a seafood restaurant to complete the details of her divorce from her 61-year-old spouse.
Smith had been speaking with a 61-year-old man for around 20 minutes when the man left and returned with a gun, shooting 13 shots and striking Smith repeatedly. He was recognized as being deceased at the site. At the restaurant, there were no additional shootings.

His family, who expressed their sorrow and recalled Maurenzo Smith’s upbeat personality, remembered him as a “very wonderful, kind guy.”
Smith’s sister Ida Carter asserted that he was “always eager to help, and that’s what ended up with him in the predicament.”
Even though other sources and the Harris County Sheriff’s Department have been referred to as a couple, a relative insists that Smith and the woman only met last Friday and denies any romantic involvement on his behalf.
According to Carter, there was no romantic bond between a boyfriend and a girlfriend. According to the boxer’s father, his son was trying to protect a person.
