The NCAA changed its rules on July 1, 2021, to allow its athletes to be compensated for using their names, photos, and likeness. Dunne was expected to get the highest compensation of any collegiate athlete because of her extensive social media following. The law change totalled five million followers across Instagram and TikTok.

Dunne signed with WME Sports in August, becoming the company’s first NIL athlete. A month later, she announced her first exclusive brand collaboration with the sportswear company Vuori.
