Leah Burke’s hat trick contributed to England’s victory over PNG. 

The team had to overcome its hardest test to date before defeating Papua New Guinea 42-4 at Headingley in the women’s rugby league world cup.

The exercise left them with bruises, but they did not let that stop them. Burke, 24, is the competitor who has drawn the most media attention.

Burke scored three tries, and Courtney Winfield, a critical halfback with a reliable kickoff made all of them possible. Additionally scoring were Vicky Whitfield, Caitlin Beevers, and Tara-Jane Stanley.

Amy Hardcastle scored two goals, and Tara-Jane Stanley, Caitlin Beevers, and Vicky Whitfield each contributed one try.

Leah Burke was born in 1998, and in 2018, she turned 24. At Leeds Beckett University, she is pursuing a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Physiology.

Leah’s father played rugby league with the Leigh Centurions in the past, and the sport has always been a love for him. Leah’s father used to accompany her to all of her social events in the past.

Usually, her parents are at her sporting events. Leah and two of her younger twin sisters are the same age. They go by the names Kirra Burke and Rhianna. She has two rugby-playing sisters.

Leah shifted from liking rugby to liking gymnastics. The current rugby league winger spent the preceding ten years of his life competing at the highest level in gymnastics.

Leah decided to give up gymnastics when she started having back problems. Before she and her sister tried out for the St. Helens RLFC, she began playing rugby union while a college student.

Leah’s outstanding performance for St. Helens led to an invitation to join the team that took a plane to the southern hemisphere to compete in the 9s competition in Australia and the two-match test series in Papua New Guinea.
