Former Australian politician John Barilaro was the 18th deputy premier of New South Wales and served as the leader of the National Party’s New South Wales division from 2016 to 2021.
In the second Berejiklian administration, he served as the Minister for Regional New South Wales, Industry, and Trade beginning in April 2019.
From 2011 until his resignation in October 2021, he served as a legislator for the Monaro electoral district in New South Wales.
From October 2014 until March 2019, Barilaro held the positions of minister for regional development, minister for small business, minister for skills, and minister for regional tourism in the first and second Berejiklian governments.
He is also well-known for the defamation case Barilaro v. Shanks-Markovina, in which Jordan Shanks’ YouTube channel, friendlyjordies, and the publisher of the videos, Google, were both parties.
The producer, Kristo Langker, was detained on stalking charges, which were later dropped in March 2022 after Shanks had sent him to the NSW Police Fixated Persons Unit, and the case involved the publisher of the videos, Google.

John Barilaro Arrested For Assault: What Happened?
After a confrontation with a cameraman outside a pub in July, Barilaro was charged with assault and malicious damage offences.
Through Barilaro’s attorneys, NSW Police presented him with a future court appearance notice on Friday for alleged assault and malicious damage violations.
Barilaro and Matt Costello, one of the cameramen, got into a fight.
As the man tries to videotape Barilaro, who then turns and walks away, online videos show the two scuffle as they push and grip one another.
Later, Barilaro acknowledged the occurrence, saying he felt harassed while out with friends and was confronted in the pitch-black outside a pub.
He is scheduled to appear in Manly Local Court on October 12, 2022.
