Brian Turner, now 76, was created on May 7, 1946, in Halifax, West Riding of Yorkshire. The food critic and broadcaster Michael Smith, according to the chef, served as his mentor throughout the early years of his profession.
Turner had training at several hotels and eateries, including Simpson’s in the Strand and the Savoy Grill, in addition to his training under Smith. At both places, Richard Sheperd served as his instructor.
The chef completed his training under Sheperd and then relocated to Lausanne, the Capital and largest city of Vaud, one of the cantons in the Swiss federation.
In 1971, he returned to Britain and started working at Claridge’s and the Capital Hotel. The fact that Turner and Richard Sheperd both received Michelin stars this year makes it noteworthy.
Turner took a break in 1973 to work as a chef and lecturer. After Sheperd left in 1975, he returned to being a cook and took on the job of Chef de Cuisine.
Turner subsequently opened the Metro Wine Bar and the Greenhouse Restaurant. Famous chefs Gary Rhodes and Shaun Hill were among the chefs who collaborated with Truner at the Capital.
In 1986, Turner, a chef with more than ten years of expertise, launched Turner’s on Walton Street in Knightsbridge, London. He operated this restaurant until 2001 when he decided to sell it and start Brian Turner’s Restaurant.
In February 2002, Brian Turner’s Restaurant debuted in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Birmingham’s NEC. In April of the following year, 2003, he established Brian Turner Mayfair at the Millennium Hotel in London.
Brian Truner had a successful period in the middle of the 2000s when he opened Turner’s Grill at the Copthorne Hotel Slough-Windsor.
Of these three eateries, the Brian Turner Mayfair closed at the end of July 2008 and has since reopened. Since then, a Turner-unrelated Italian eatery has taken its place.
Turner also created the Brian Turner – S & C, a snack food outside of restaurants, in 2003. When this piece was written, the chef was employed as a consulting chef by Vivat Bacchus, a restaurant and wine bar in South Africa.
Then there is his work on television, for which he is well known. Turner spent many years as a staff chef on Granada Television’s This Morning. On BBC2’s Ready Steady Cook, he frequently appeared as a guest chef.

Turner received a CBE for his contributions to tourism and training in the catering profession on June 15, 2002, as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honors, ushering in the 2000s.
Later in the decade, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Leeds Metropolitan University for his contributions to the hospitality and catering sector.
The chef is a former Leeds College of Food Technology student, a Leeds Metropolitan University precursor college.
