Del Ballard Illness Details

According to PBA.com, Del Ballard was diagnosed with tonsil carcinoma in August 2010.

However, the prognosis for a full recovery was optimistic after Del had chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Texas Oncology, a Baylor University Medical Center affiliate.

The athlete, his wife Carolyn, and a few friends came together following his treatments to transform a negative into a positive. The “Ballard vs. The Big C” bowling event was subsequently planned.

By 2017, the event has donated more than $300,000 to the North Texas Laryngectomy Society, Baylor Health Care, and Cancer Care Services.

In addition, the PBA Tony Reyes Community Service Award for the 2017 campaign was given to the professional ten-pin bowler in recognition of his work.

The ten-pin bowler has assisted numerous individuals both on and off the alleys throughout the years.

Although he was a grand champion and among the best athletes the sport has ever seen, his fortitude is admirable in the face of difficulty. A prime illustration of how much Del is loved is BVBC.

Del Ballard Health Update

Since there hasn’t been any news about Del Ballard’s health problem in 2022, he seems to be doing okay.

He appears to be doing better after chemotherapy and radiation treatments for tonsil cancer. Del experienced one of the strangest and most iconic episodes in PBA history on March 2, 1991.

The athlete defeated Pete Weber in the nationally televised championship match to win Baltimore’s 1991 Fair Lanes Open competition.

Del delivered the necessary two strikes, but Pete won the match because Pete’s third attempt was too close to the right channel and went in. A few weeks later, Del won the Long Island Open by defeating Jim

Johnson Jr. North Richland Hills, Texas, is now the new home of the Ballards.

Del Ballard Net Worth Explored

Del Ballard’s net worth is unclear. However, it is believed to be more than $1 million.

Del earned $100,000 after winning two championships in 1987, including his first major, the U.S. Open Championship. The ABC Masters, his second major victory, came in 1988.

The ten-pin bowler later won the Firestone Tournament of Champions in 1989 and the U.S. Open in 1993, two more big tournaments. Ballard won four victories in 1991, his most fruitful year on the circuit.

The sportsman won 13 PBA titles during his career and paid $1,130,857 in total. Del placed eighth in the Tour Trials and received a PBA tour exemption for the 2006–07 campaign. Unfortunately, Ballard was unable to maintain the immunity the following year.

Del no longer bowls on the PBA Tour, but he continues to serve as Storm’s ball representative and coach. While Del oversees the Motown Muscle PBA League team, Carolyn supervises the NYC Kingpins.
